Ngo cho kun in
The origin of Ngo Cho Kun carries three versions; first version has ngo cho kun founded sometime in the 1300s by the great grandmater Bai Yufeng of northern Shaolin, founder of Wu Xing Quan "Five Animal Fist" which are (1) Tiger, (2) Snake (3) Leopard, (4) Northern White Crane and (5) Dragon Fist, he was also instrumental in reformulating the Shaolin boxing principle from 18 sets to 174 technique sets. Some descendants of the Bai Yufeng-Wuxingquan will later migrate to Fujian province and will kept their style secrete for centuries.
Because of limited available written records of its history little is known about the true nature of how Bai Yufeng-Wuxingquan devloped into Wuzuquan in Fujian province. At present the late GrandMaster Chee Kim Thong of
The second version has ngo cho kun founded between 1875 – 1880 by Sijo Chua Giok Beng of Quanzhou, Fujian province China. Chua Giok Beng first teacher was Master Ho Yang who was originally from the north. After Master Ho Yan died, Chua Giok Beng personally escorted his master’s remains back to his northern hometown. On his way back he took the long route for one reason alone, and that is to meet, train, learn, and spar and to take his martial skill to higher level.
For 10 years of traveling, he got back to Quanzhou that he finally decided to introduced his ngo cho kun which is the combination of (1) southern White Crane (2) Ming Tai Zu Fist (3) Monkey Fist (4) Lo Han boxing and (5) Da Mo breathing exercise. Chua Giok Beng successfully develop and applied the ngo ki lat "five powers" they are (1) sink (2) float (3) swallow and (4) spit and the four principle the legs, hip, shoulder, and qi gong. Combining these nine into one powerful technique made Sijo Chua Giok Beng kung fu skill very powerful and unbeatable.
Other masters will test Chua's ngo cho kun and they will be convince of its power and effectiveness. Those masters who lost to Chua Giok Beng did not became his enemies instead those masters would become his loyal students and would later bond together for common interest of spreading ngo cho kun. They would be initiated by Chua Giok Beng and they will be known as the Ten Tigers.
Sijo Chua Giok Beng will become so famous and well known that he and his disciples will dominate Fujian and will be recognize as the founder of Ngo Cho Kun.
The third version has Ngo Cho Kun founded by Grandmaster Li Junren of Yong Chun Fujian China, Li Junren whose main martial art background was Ming Tai Zu would met Chua Giok Beng both will become good freinds and will share in the developing Ngo Cho Kun, for reason unknown, Sijo Li Junren will separate himself from Chua and establish his own version of Ngo Cho Kun that would sometime be known as Yong Chun-Ngo Cho Kun.
